cleansing your space: raise your vibration inside + out

Updated: May 20, 2021

March 2020

Believe it or not – it’s an inside job. The key to cleansing any space is to raise the vibration. Einstein said it best when he said, ‘Everything is energy’. We literally live in a sea of vibration.

Our outside environment is always a reflection of what’s happening inside us. Everything in life starts and ends with us. So starting with ourselves we can begin to cleanse from the inside out, by raising our own vibration. How can we do this? By getting into a daily routine using practices and rituals, this then becomes our habit and our way of life. When we raise our vibration we then radiate high vibrations out into our surrounding environments, our rooms, homes and to all the people who surround us.

Here’s a list of some practical ways we can cleanse our spaces in our inner and outer worlds, which are really all one:

– Sound: singing, chanting, prayer All high vibration sounds such as crystal singing bowls, singing, chanting or playing music such as mantras are not just uplifting but are very powerful in purifying the atmosphere, which can help with cleansing our spaces. The Gayatri mantra is considered to be one of the most exalted mantras and can be used for clearing or we can also chant mantras for our favourite deities.

– Sadhana (spiritual practices) Any space where we practice our sadhana will automatically clear and cleanse ourselves and the space around us. Sadhana may include meditation, yoga, chanting, mantra japa, prayer etc. Keeping a daily practice will ensure our space is clear, cleansed and filled with pure Divine energy.

– Gratitude Positive thoughts and emotions elevate our minds, our bodies and outer environments. Including gratitude in our morning and evening rituals is a really simple and fulfilling practice, which invites in more positivity into our lives and surroundings. As Dr. Masaru Emoto said “Water has a memory and carries within it our thoughts and prayers. As you yourself are water, no matter where you are, your prayers will be carried to the rest of the world”.

– Doing the inner work Have you ever noticed after moving through an issue whether from a healing or therapy session or when something shifts inside us we feel like doing a clear out? It’s because something inside of us has let go and freed up space and so our outer surroundings must then follow suit to align and keep everything in balance. Decluttering our inner world always has a ripple effect on our outer world.

– Movement Keeping our energy systems fluid and open through movement, exercise, dancing, stretching and yoga is key to cleansing any space. Movement clears any stuck and stagnant energies and keeps our systems open and our spaces free.

– Breath awareness Bring your awareness into your heart centre and imagine a white light filling your heart centre. Breathing in love, breathing out light. Feel the peace and joy in your heart. Now imagine this light expanding to fill your whole body. Breathing in love, breathing out light. Feel this love and light radiate out from your heart centre to fill the entire room that you are in. Breathing in love, breathing out light. Imagine this white light and love spreading out to fill your entire room and home and cleansing all spaces.

– Mantra japa 108 repetitions of our chosen mantra also helps to cleanse our space. This is a relevant mantra we can chant for the current times:

Om Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu

May all the beings in all the worlds be happy and peaceful

– Channeling For those of us who practice a healing modality, channeling energies to clear a space is a very effective way of cleansing and raising the vibration of our surroundings.

– Deities We can call in our favorite Deities to help with cleansing our space. Each Deity has a specific essence and Divine quality – it’s about following our intuition and guidance and working with whatever Deity we feel drawn towards.

– Plants, light and air Bringing the outdoors in with plants such as Holy Basil, also called Tulsi, which is a sanskrit word meaning ‘incomparable one’. In India many (Hindu) homes have Tulsi plants growing close to the front door to attract high energy and prosperity into the home. Also opening windows and doors to allow air and natural light to enter – the fresh movement helps to clear out stuck, stagnant energies.

– Essential oils Using a diffuser is a gentle way of dispersing essential oils throughout the air and fills the entire room with soothing scents. Essential oils have a very high vibration and help to clear our space, some of the most powerful oils include Rose and Idaho Blue Spruce.

– Crystals and incense Burning Palo Santo or Sage are effective ways to cleanse spaces. Himalayan salt lamps are not just beautiful, they also have many benefits for purifying the atmosphere by releasing negative ions. Crystals also hold a very high energy and can be placed in various locations around our rooms.

– Routine Having a morning routine to follow before sitting down to work – a clear mind creates a clear space.

– Organising and space Dividing our space into sections for work and play if possible – no matter how small our space is we are amazing beings at adapting, already over the last week so many of us had to scramble and adapt to our new ‘normal’. We are creating work spaces out of living spaces in many creative and inspiring ways. It’s absolutely possible for us to adapt and adjust to this new way of being so let’s embrace these times and get creative.

Let’s use this current situation to put a daily practice and routine together, spreading high vibes not just into our own work and living spaces but out into our communities and the entire world.
